i mostly drew this because i wanted to draw octavia's sceptical friend egg. (egg says: if your given name was eglantine valentiana, you'd go by 'egg' too). it was her who octavia was texting about summoning incubi in Lascivious gaze, and it appears that the incubus jim took advantage of the situation to send egg some inappropriate (and un-deletable) pictures of octavia in distress after that summoning went wrong. egg is now contemplating burning her phone if exorcising it doesn't work.

egg is also an apprentice witch on her placement year. while octavia wants to specialise in summoning (but really doesn't have the skill of controlling what she summons), egg's skills are in mycothaumy and oneiroturgy: mushroom magic and dream-work. needless to say, she is better at what she does than octavia is, mostly because she doesn't overreach herself, and she doesn't have such a strained relationship with her mentor. she does, however, have dr hackett on speed dial.
